The Midwest Security Conference started in 1990 as a joint venture between the Chicago chapter of the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) and the Illinois Security Chiefs Association.  In 1991, the Chicago Chapter of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) became the third member and sponsor.

The conference has been held annually to provide a cost effective conference that would be of high quality, timely in nature, and accessible to all.
